One Response to “Editorial – May 2010”

  1. CECILIA A. FLROENCIO Says:

A colleague called my attention to Commentary: The great vitamin A fiasco in the May 2010 issue of World Nutrition, and I am glad he did. While reading Dr. Latham’s insightful article, I could not help but reflect on our own vitamin fiasco here in the Philippines.

We, too, have highly influential “experts.” They waved the Vitamin A supplementation “flag” because it was waved elsewhere by the “international community” and then brought to our shores. Our local variety will most likely not signal a retreat until the international community takes the first step. This is truly sad and unfortunate considering the stark facts coming from our own national nutrition surveys that argue, reasonably and well, for “a return to the barracks.”
